Join us at Hendry's Beach (aka Arroyo Burro Beach County Park) every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:45. We walk the beach, visit, make new friends and catch up with old friends, spot whales and dolphins and get fresh air and exercise. Some of us walk fast, and some of us stroll. Then we gather at the picnic tables and visit some more. Sometimes there is food to share.

Contact Karen Kaiser (karenkaiser@comcast.net) with any questions.

Hendry's Beach/Arroyo Burro is just west of the intersection of Cliff Drive and Las Positas Rd. (exit 100 on freeway). There is a large parking lot. We meet at the top of the stairs next to Boathouse at Hendry's Beach restaurant, 2981 Cliff Dr., Santa Barbara. The restaurant is located at the end of the parking lot right next to the ocean.

Please join our group of 30 to 50 East Beach Walkers, consisting of Newcomers, Graduates, and longtime Santa Barbara residents, as we walk along the waterfront.

There is no need to register, just join us in the parking lot on the west side of East Beach Grill, 1118, E. Cabrillo Blvd., to walk along the bike path from the grill to Sterns Wharf and back again, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.

Please note that, with the close of the East Beach Grill, on January 1, 2018, the East Beach Walking Group will transition to the Stern's Wharf Walking Group and the walks will start and end at Char West, near the Ice Cream Shop. Parking is free at that time of day.

walkingWe start walking promptly at 8:05 am, and walk at our own pace, while visiting with fellow walkers. It is about 3 miles to the pier and back, or 3 1/2 if you walk to the end of the pier, and takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending upon your pace.

Many stay after the walk to enjoy conversation at East Beach Grill upon our return. Coffee and food are available for purchase from the Grill. It is requested that those who stay and sit at a table, even if you do not order food or beverage, leave a tip of least a dollar.

Everyone Welcome... Runners, Run/Walkers, and Walkers!

We meet every Saturday at 8am to run, jog, or walk together and then go for breakfast!

The routes we take allow you to go as far or as short a distance as you wish. We typically run out and back (for about an hour or so)... some go 4 miles, others 6 or 7 miles, and some go even farther since they're training for full or half marathons.

We typically meet at Stearns Wharf by the restrooms near the Dolphin Fountain.  Look for the BRIGHT PINK hat! Park on Anacapa Street and walk to the wharf.

Breakfast afterwards at Helena Avenue Bakery, 131 Anacapa St!

    See you there!

Have you ever seen someone take a lump of hot glass from a blazing hot furnace (2,400 °F) and blow it into a fantastic, unique object d'art? Well, this is your chance to watch local artist Saul Alcarez create one of his fine art glass pieces, some of which have been featured in museums and galleries throughout the world. These visionary designs have pushed the art of glassmaking to the edge of creative expression.

Saul will demonstrate the techniques he uses he uses to make lovely glass pieces such as vases, bowls, and ornaments.  There will be three sessions - one on Nov. 21st, another on Nov. 29th, and a third on Dec. 6th - all at 10:00 am.  Each demonstration will last just over an hour.

Everyone who attends this demonstration is also welcome to join us afterwards for an optional, delicious self serve lunch at East Beach Tacos - just a few blocks from the glassblowing studio on Milpas St. across from the Tricounty Produce market.

SAN YSIDRO RANCH GARDEN TOUR AND LUNCH

SECOND DATE ADDED FOR WAITLIST:  tour and lunch at San Ysidro Ranch, sponsored by the Gardening Committee.

Ranked among the top 25 hotels for Travel + Leisure’s World Best!  San Ysidro Ranch has provided a beautiful and tranquil vacation destination for discriminating travelers for over a century.  Myth and history mingle in the lush garden where Vivien Leigh and Sir Laurence Olivier exchanged vows and the site of the Kennedy’s honeymoon.

The Ranch occupies over 500 rolling acres of unspoiled coastal landscape between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Dazzling views turn from the Channel Islands to rambling canyons under ancient Eucalyptus. Fragrant Magnolia and orange blossoms perfume the Ranch.

We'll begin with a tour of the gardens by the  Ranch’s lead gardener, followed by a three course lunch:  salad, main course (choice of chicken, salmon, or veggie), and the Ranch's famous homemade mint chip ice cream for dessert
