Tour Santa Barbara’s Unique Carriage Museum- OPEN TO GRADS and FRIENDS
Join us for this docent-led museum tour with time for viewing the exhibit, socializing, and enjoying hors d'oeuvres and wine. A visit to the Carriage Museum is a perfect way to enhance your appreciation of Old Spanish Days, also known as Fiesta, held during the first weekend each August.
Founded in 1972, The Carriage and Western Art Museum has two compelling collections. The stagecoach and carriage collection is comprised of over 40 horse-drawn conveyances manufactured between 1850 to 1911. Many of the carriages, buggies, and wagons are used in the Old Spanish Days Parade.
Additionally, the saddle collection consists of over 50 saddles that belonged to famous people, such as Cisco Kid, Will Rogers, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart and many others. The collection includes one-of-a-kind silver saddles and equestrian tack by noted leather craftsmen such as Loomis, Forbes, and Visalia.
The museum is located at 129 Castillo Street in Pershing Park near the Santa Barbara waterfront. Parking is available in the museum parking lot.
