Friday 8:30AM Hike

Franklin Trail

The Franklin trail starts near Carpinteria High school, heading north into the Los Padres National Forest.  The first leg, (of three), is 2.2 miles, (up and back is 4.4 miles).  The hike is not hard, ~1000 ft elevation gain, and round trip is about 1 ½ hours for the first leg.  The last mile up of the first leg is switchbacks that allow wonderful views of Carpinteria and the ocean.  The third leg is closed for construction.

Here is a map of the entire trail. We will do leg 1, some may go up another leg.

Go south on the 101 from SB and exit on Linden in Carpinteria.  Turn north on Linden, (toward the mountains) go left (west) on Meadow View Lane.  Park west near the end. W
alk west toward a yellow Yield sign at the  end of Meadow View Lane.  Here is a map link to parking.  This is not the trailhead.

Meet us at the west end of Meadow View Lane at 8:30 or the trailhead at 8:40.

To the Trailhead: Cross the bridge and immediately turn right on the bike path.  Follow the bike path and cross Foothill Road to the high school. At the high school go left (west).  As the sidewalk ends you've reached the trailhead. Allow 5-10 minutes walking from parking to trailhead.
Here is a map link to the trailhead.

Hope you will join us.
