Hike At a Relaxed Pace (H.A.R.P.)

When: Sunday, October 8, 2016 9:00 AM
Where: Botanical Gardens

With sweeping views to the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Santa Barbara Channel Islands and stunning landscapes, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is a great place to explore California's native plant diversity. The Garden's 78 acres encompass a variety of cultivated displays, stands of natural coast live oak, riparian woodlands, a redwood grove, an authentic Japanese teahouse, a tranquil meadow, and the 1807 mission dam and aqueduct system.

Total hike distance about three miles. Brief stretches of very easy climbing. Dogs on leash are welcome.

No need to register. Just show up. Downpour cancels, but we'll go ahead in light rain. Bring water and sunblock.  Please note: each attendee is responsible for her/his entrance fee.

ADMISSION
$10 Adults
$8 Seniors (60+)

After the hike, we will meet nearby to socialize. Some hikers may opt to stay for the Garden’s monthly teahouse exhibition (11:00-1:00, included with your Garden admission). From the Botanic Garden website: “Visitors and members are welcome to experience our ShinKanAn Teahouse and Garden. Trained Teahouse volunteers are available to share their skills and answer questions about the rich traditions of the Japanese tea ceremony.”

Directions: From Foothill Road (Route 192) turn onto Mission Canyon Road, traveling toward the mountains. After driving approximately one mile, turn left at 1212 Mission Canyon Road into the Botanic Garden parking lot. (Pass the parking lot exit and look for a large sign about 1/10 mile further on at the parking lot entrance.) We will meet in the parking lot near the entry kiosk.
