Brought to you by the Architecture & Design Committee

If you’re an art buff, you’ll love this engaging tour that focuses on the beautiful works of art and magnificent architecture at Old Mission Santa Barbara. The tour will include the church and façade, baptismal font, church artwork (including Stations of the Cross paintings), statues and Crucifix, and an in-depth look at the artifacts and interpretive displays in the Mission's nine-room museum.

After the tour we will gather at the Cielito Restaurant for a no-host bar and appetizers.   Cielito is located at the back of La Arcada, near the art gallery off State St.

The Architecture and Design Committee is researching noted Santa Barbara builder and developer Alex D'Alfonso.  Do you or someone you know live in one of his homes, especially on Diana Lane or another street where there is a cluster of his homes?  If so, please call Shelley Hurst at 650 796 3491.

Is your new home in Santa Barbara one of historical or architectural significance? Your architecture and design committee would really like to know about your home with the view of having a group of 20-30 SBNewcomers visit in the future, perhaps in conjunction with a home of similar significance. Our committee is able to engage local architects to attend an event at your home to put its unique features into perspective for our members. Please contact the committee chair at architectureanddesign@sbnewcomers.org, and let us know about your home.
