THIS IS A NEW HIKE

This loop hike is on the western side of Gaviota State Park. We will traverse the Ortega Trail to the Overlook Trail and then ascend to the Hollister Trail, going along the Hollister Ridge and return via the Yucca trail. It is a 4.2 mile round trip with an elevation gain of around 700 feet. The hike has very scenic views over the Hollister Ranch, the coast, and Gaviota Peak. There are opportunities to take a side spur along the Beach to Backcountry Trail for those that want to extend the hike. The hike takes approximately 2 hours and is moderate to strenuous.

Directions:  Meet at 8.15 am at the Mission parking lot for those who want to car pool. Otherwise, meet at the trailhead at 9:00 am.  It is approximately a 40 minute drive to the trailhead from Santa Barbara.
