CYCLING

REVERSE TOUR DE SANTA BARBARA-

MISSION-RIVIERA-MONTECITO

20 MILES

Sunday, July 31st --  9:00AM - 12:00PM

This is one of our only rides that has only one option.

This time we begin our ride at the Garden Street Parking Lot on the ocean side of Cabrillo at 9:00AM and head up Caesar Chavez Street, left on Cota to Olive, connecting to Laguna then past the Mission taking Mission Canyon up to Mountain Drive. After an enjoyable ride along Mountain Drive we head downhill and meander our way through Montecito and toward Butterfly Beach. Depending on the time and the mood of the group, we can stop for coffee and pastries at Renaud’s  on Coast Village road in Montecito, or for the hearty early eater, you may choose to end at the Taco stand at the East Beach batting cage on Milpas.

The route does have a relatively long uphill climb but is suitable for road, hybrids and for those that wish a little assist, eBikes. Once we get to Mountain Drive we will have beautiful views of our great city and the Channel islands. Overall the ride is about 20 miles long.

Check Out The Ride Map!

(This map does not show the start at Garden but is accurate from the Mission on. It was kindly provided by Steve Ells who tried to locate me last time when I deviated from the route given in prior descriptions).

Helmets required! Bring lots of water. Ride Cancelled if raining

The goal of the Cycling Committee is to hold weekly social meetup rides that are open to cyclists of all levels and abilities. Our rides are typically designed to have multiple start points and route segments and a destination that will allow us to relax and chat with our fellow Newcomers and guests after the ride. These rides are 'No Drop', so no riders will be left behind. Whether you are a beginning rider or a Tour de France champion come out and join us as there will usually be something for everyone.
