POST THANKSGIVING FAMILY HIKE

Franklin Trail     (1st leg)

The Franklin trail starts in the front parking lot of Carpinteria High school.  The first leg, (of three), is 2.2 miles, (up and back is 4.4miles).  The hike is not hard, 750ft elevation gain, and round trip is about 1 ½ hours for the first leg.  The last mile up of the first leg is switchbacks that allow wonderful views of Carpinteria and the ocean.  The whole trail, (3 phases), goes up a total of 7.9 miles for the ambitious.  After the hike we can stop at the “Padaro Beach Grill”, just off of Santa Claus Ln. which is just off the 101.

Go south on the 101 from SB and exit on Linden in Carpinteria.  Turn north on Linden, (toward the mountains) go about ½ mile then go left as the road goes, (the name changes to Foothill Rd), and you will see the high school on the right.  Park in the high school if it the weekend, otherwise on the street if it is a weekday.  Richard Haro richardharo@icloud.com  and Roy Kite roykite2015@gmail.com
