Join us for a non-traditional urban walk through the Santa Barbara neighborhood of San Roque known for its diverse architectural styles. We’ll pass by an area where Chumash Indians gathered long before Columbus discovered our continent. You’ll see the original house of Stephen Rutherford, the developer who started the first streets of San Roque. We’ll also learn about Dixey Thompson, one of Santa Barbara’s most colorful pioneers and landowner of a vast area that later became San Roque and surrounding areas.
Finally, we’ll top of the walk with a beverage & conversation at Spices & Vices.
We will meet in the parking lot behind Denny’s at the corner of upper State Street and North Ontare Road at the entrance just off Ontare. There is plenty of street parking nearby. 3614 State St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105
