No Hike if Raining.  Bring Plenty of Water

This hike is rated moderate to the sandstone wind caves and tunnels in Gaviota State park along US 101. We will hike to the rock formations and an overlook with great views of the ocean, islands and the Gaviota coastline.  

There are a few short, steep spots where you may want hiking poles.  Also there is little to no shade on this hike, so please bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.

The hike is rated moderate, 4 miles round trip, and has 600 feet of elevation gain.  Sorry but no dogs are allowed in Gaviota State Park.

You are welcome to organize carpools. If you drive yourself, please be aware that travel time from Santa Barbara to the trailhead is 30-35 minutes.  

Directions to the Trailhead:

Take 101 north to Gaviota State Park. Make a left turn off of 101 at Gaviota Beach Rd.

After a quarter of mile, turn right onto Hollister Ranch Rd before the state park entrance.

Go 500ft, up a slight hill.

Trailhead is on your right. Parking on both sides of the road.
