Join us for a special afternoon, holiday, low-tide edition of Weekend Amblers! We will walk up and down Haskell’s beach, which is at the base of the Ritz-Carlton Bacara resort at the northern edge of Goleta. The low tide will allow us to walk northwest past an oil pier towards Naples Point, then as time and low tide allow, we can walk southeast along the beach below the Sandpiper Golf Course.
There’s no need to register; just show up! Dogs on leash are welcome. Bring water and sunscreen. There are picnic tables and public restrooms at the end of the path leading from the public parking lot to the beach. You may want some mineral oil to remove naturally-occurring tar on the beach, which may stick to your feet or footwear.
After the walk, we plan to meet at a nearby location (to be announced) for a refreshment.
If a downpour is forecasted, the walk will be cancelled. A determination will be made the prior evening, and a cancellation notice will be sent to those on the Weekend Amblers email list. Those not yet on the mailing list can contact the Committee to be added.
Directions: From Santa Barbara, head north on US 101 and take exit 110 for Winchester Canyon Road, toward Hollister Avenue. Turn left from Calle Real onto Cathedral Oaks Road, and cross the bridge over the 101 freeway, heading towards the ocean. Turn right on Hollister and proceed for about a half mile. Look for signs indicating a public beach access parking lot on the left (ocean) side of the road. If you reach the Ritz-Carlton resort entrance (which technically is 8301 Hollister), do a U-turn, as you have gone a little bit too far.
