No Hike if Raining!

[Hikers at the Rock Garden Jan 13, 2017]

Remember to take lots of water.

No need to register, just show up.

ROMERO CANYON – 8:30 AM-- Hiking Distance: 6 miles round trip. Elevation gain: 1700 feet. Hiking Time 2.5 hours or less (go at your pace). Difficulty: Moderate-Strenuous.  We will walk up the beautiful, well-shaded Romero Canyon trail to Old Romero Rd.  Most hikers elect to return on gently sloping road with spectacular views.

HOWEVER

At the junction with Old Romero Rd, THERE IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A GREAT HIKE TO THE TOP! SEVERAL HIKERS WILL EXTEND the hike up the trail toward East Camino Cielo Rd. This is an option for anyone interested in

 REALLY SPECIAL VIEWS.

DIRECTIONS: Meet at the Romero Canyon trail head on Bella Vista Rd.  Exit Fwy101 at Sheffield Dr (Exit #92) in Montecito [Sheffield is a LEFT LANE EXIT coming from Santa Barbara], turn toward the mountains and follow signs to Sheffield. About 1.4 miles after exiting the 101, Sheffield ends at E Valley Rd (CA-192). Turn left and then immediately right on to Romero Canyon Rd. Continue up Romero Canyon, bearing right to avoid entering Lilac Lane.  One mile after first entering Romero, turn right on to Bella Vista Dr. and go .3 miles to the trailhead on your left. During the week there is ample parking along the road.

HIKE LEADER:   Thomas Lee

Hope to see you there!
