No Hike if Raining

This Friday we will hike the Ellwood Bluffs to encompass the Ellwood Mesa and forest loops plus the Butterfly Preserve, while navigating conditions (see below) as best we can can.   We will hike the trail listed below and continue into the forest along the Ellwood Mesa.  Given the high surf, it is doubtful we can get down to the beach, but we can certainly see it from where the paths are passable.  The plan is to hike about 4-5 miles on Friday, perhaps finishing with a coffee at Jeannine's in Goleta if you'd like.  These trails are all dog-friendly (if you don't mind a trip to the dog groomer/self service bath spot afterwards).  We'll meet at the parking lot at the Elwood Bluffs Trailhead located at Hollister and Viajero in Goleta near the Sandpiper golf course (directions below) at 9:00am.

Last year we have scouted the trail system and unsurprisingly, there are muddy sections and some minor water obstacles.  Wear waterproof shoes or boots or at a minimum, shoes that can take the mud. It is doubtful that we can get to the beach given the high surf.
