Social Hiking At a Relaxed Pace

(S.H.A.R.P.)

When
Sunday, May 7, 2017 [New Date]
9:00 AM
Where
East Beach to Montecito's Oceanfront

This scenic hike takes us from Santa Barbara’s vibrant beach scene to Montecito’s elegant oceanfront. Highlights include a bird refuge, a verdant pedestrian-only walkway, and several renowned Montecito landmarks:  Butterfly Beach, The Biltmore, and the lush grounds of the Music Academy of the West. Plus, some surprises along the way (oink, oink). If you’ve ever purchased a Beanie Baby, come see what Ty Warner did with your money.

Total hike distance about 3.75 miles round trip, mostly paved.  Brief stretch of uphill road and a couple of staircases.  Dogs on leash are welcome.  After the hike, we will gather at East Beach Grill for no-host refreshments.

No need to register.  Just show up.  Downpour or lightning cancels, but we’ll go ahead in light rain. Bring water and sunblock.  Leader will be at starting location before 9 regardless of weather at the time, to meet people and decide whether to proceed.

Directions: Meet on the Santa Barbara oceanfront at the intersection of East Cabrillo Boulevard and Ninos Drive.  Parking available along East Cabrillo Boulevard (free) or in paid lots at East Beach (the east side of the Cabrillo Bathhouse, adjacent to the beach volleyball courts).
