March SB Newcomer’s Cycling Trip

Date Saturday 3/12 9:30 AM

Start point: Tucker’s Grove Park, Turnpike and Cathedral Oaks

Our March cycling outing will explore the Goodland, riding along Cathedral Oaks (CO) outbound, riding on a couple of nice, pretty flat canyon roads full of citrus and avocado farms, with a coffee stop at Sandpiper Golf Course.  On the way back, turn on Los Carneros and cycle through several neighborhoods and the connecting bike/pedestrian bridges that link them.  This is known as the North Goleta Bike Route.

Anyone not wanting to do the canyon roads can easily skip them.  They are in and out, about 1.5 miles each way.  They are not at all hard, just scenic.  On CO, there is only one hill, at Dos Pueblos HS.  It is easy to turn around at any time.  Riders can do anywhere from 15 to 30 miles round trip on this ride.  Park just inside Tucker’s Grove, which is on the North side of CO at Turnpike.  If you come north on Turnpike, the park is straight ahead once you get to the intersection with CO.  CO has wide bike lanes and not much traffic.  It becomes very scenic the farther west you ride.

Rain postpones, helmets required. Questions: bill@kyleassociates.com or 818-983-6227
