RAIN CANCELS EVENT

NO DOGS ALLOWED

BRING BEACH CHAIRS IF YOU HAVE THEM - SEATING IS LIMITED

Join us for this very popular joint Newcomers, friends and family event - a walk/hike along the Gaviota Coast shore in an area accessible only at low tide - followed by a potluck and fun stories!  Select the right distance for you.  At the end, we will all meet for potluck appetizers at El Capitán State Beach picnic tables.  Minus tide of -1.1' will occur at roughly 1:46 pm.

This is a wonderful day to see how our shores are constantly being altered by sea level changes.

Easy Choice for Most People – Out-and-Back - Meet at the day-use parking area next to the El Capitán Beach Store at El Capitán State Beach at 1:00pm.  Walk toward the east (or west) on the beach as far as you feel comfortable for an hour, then turn back to your starting point.  You’ll arrive back in time for appetizers.

For Everyone - Please bring your own beverages, cups, paper plates, utensils and an appetizer to share at 3:00.  Please wear footwear suitable for irregular wet surfaces, and consider bringing hat, sunscreen, water, and camera.  The only fee is the cost of parking your car at the beach.  Family and friends (but not dogs) are welcome to join us.  Rest rooms are available at El Cap but not along the beach.

Directions to El Capitán State Beach – Take 101 North to exit 117 for El Capitán State Beach (not 116 for El Capitán Ranch).  Turn left, go under train tracks, and pay entry fee.  Day use parking is toward the left, next to the El Capitán Beach Store (which will probably be closed).  Parking fee at El Capitán is $10 per car ($9 for seniors).  The parking lot closes at dusk.
