Urban Riviera Hike from the Mission Rose Garden

No hike if raining.  Bring plenty of water.

Urban Riviera Hike – 9:00am.   This is a post-Thanksgiving walk so please bring any visiting family or friends if you'd like.  We begin the walk at the Mission Rose Garden on Plaza Rubio.  We will wind our way up to the top of the Riviera through the Mission Historical Park and some historic neighborhoods on the west side of the Riviera.  We then pass through Franceschi Park to Mission Ridge Road and down through the Riviera "wildlands" to the Paterna Rd. Frog Wall.  We then cut through “The Encanto Resort” to explore the Riviera Business Park which was formerly the SB "Normal School", (forerunner of UCSB) and the Riviera Theatre.  From there we wind our way through some of Santa Barbara's secret neighborhoods and plazas back to the Rose Garden.

The hike is about 4.5 - 5 miles and goes up and down throughout the Riviera with magnificent views of homes, islands, ocean, and mountains.  The hike is mostly on paved road and should take approximately 2.5 hours.  The elevation change is ~ 800 feet.

DIRECTIONS.  Park anywhere near the old Mission and meet at the fountain in the Rose Garden opposite the Mission on Plaza Rubio.
