Please join the Weekend Amblers as we explore the North Campus Open Space in Goleta. This is a good wintertime amble, because if the trails are muddy we can adjust the route to avoid sloppy paths. We’ll travel around recently restored wetlands around Devereux Creek. This estuary supports a diversity of plants, birds, fish, and wildlife.

If butterflies are known to be present, we may choose to walk to and from the Ellwood Butterfly Grove from our starting point. (However, as of the posting day of this event, the butterflies haven't been seen there yet.)

There’s no need to register; just show up. Dogs are allowed on a leash. Bring water and sunblock.

Afterwards we plan to enjoy coffee and treats at a coffee shop in Goleta.

If a downpour is forecasted for the morning hours, the walk will be cancelled. A determination will be made the prior evening, and a cancellation notice will be sent to those on the email list if necessary. Those not yet on the mailing list can contact the Committee to be added.

Directions: We will meet at the Carlton-Duncan Visitor Plaza, 6969 Whittier Drive, in Goleta. The parking lot is a half block west of Storke Road. Look for the Newcomers sign.
