    • Liquid Farm Tasting Room, 2445 Alamo Pintado, Los Olivos

If you missed out on Let's Go's wine country ride, the Cycling Committee is here to help. Join us for a beautiful ride starting in Los Olivos on Sunday May 31st. Arrive early for a caffeine fix at Lefty's before the ride, or grab an espresso at Pony in Santa Ynez while we regroup there a bit later.

The second part of the ride takes us up Ballard Canyon (photo) past a number of picturesque vineyards. You may have seen a bottle of wine or two from this area around town, such as Stolpman and Rusack.

Once back in Los Olivos, we suspect most of you will call it a day and start sniffing around for lunch or perhaps do some tastings. However, if you want to clock a few more miles and get some extra Strava kudos, one option is to head north on Figueroa Mountain Road for 10 additional miles out & back to the Neverland Ranch entrance.

The route is ~19 miles (excluding Neverland) with ~1000 feet of climbing. Riders of all experience levels on any type of bike are welcome, and we’ll stop several times to regroup. Please ensure you are confident navigating urban traffic. We also highly recommend downloading the route beforehand so you’re prepared to navigate independently if needed.

    • Baron Ranch - Gaviota

Sorry - No dogs are allowed at Baron Ranch

BARON RANCH HIKE  - Baron Ranch (pronounced BEAR-OWN) is an old ranch located in Arroyo Quemado, so named due to the burning of a Chumash village in the canyon by a rival Chumash band in the 1770’s.  A cattle ranch for many years, County of Santa Barbara now owns the property which is open daily (it previously was a weekend-only hike)

Baron Ranch offers a different kind of front country hiking than the front range above Santa Barbara, and receives a lot less foot traffic.  Using old ranch roads and trails, we will pass by an apiary (bee yard), old citrus and avocado orchards, and a number of other features as we gradually climb in elevation towards the native habitats of the area.  This hike is less about spectacular views (although one can see the ocean from the high points) and more about experiencing the Gaviota back country.

We hike into the ranch along the entrance road.  Much of the first mile or so is a very gradual, open climb, leading eventually to a steeper upper loop.  While the first part of the hike is exposed, we come to more forested areas as we move deeper into the ranch.  Hiking Distance: 6+ miles round trip with a shorter option also available; Elevation gain: 1100 feet; Hiking Time: 2.5-3 hours (go at your pace and turn around anytime); Difficulty: Moderate.

Sorry - No Dogs are allowed on this hike

Directions:  Take 101 west from Santa Barbara, past El Capitan State Beach.  When you reach the Refugio State Beach exit, travel another 2.2 miles on 101 to an unmarked exit on the right.  There is no off-ramp, so the turn comes up quick.  As you exit the freeway, make an immediate left onto the frontage road (Calle Real).  Proceed 0.8 miles to Baron Ranch gate (in the photo) and park just outside the gate.  Set your GPS to Baron Ranch Trailhead if you prefer.  Travel time is approximately 20-25 minutes from Santa Barbara, so please allow sufficient time to arrive at the trail.

    Hope to see you there!

Don’t miss your chance to chart a course for adventure!

Set foot on deck, meet the crew, and learn the ropes of schooner life. Hear captivating sea stories and discover how the Mystic Whaler keeps maritime traditions alive.

We will meet by the "Deepwater Diving Monument" first for check-in and then spend the first hour by dockside (on the boat) for a "pre-party" followed by a 2 hour private sail.

Hoist the sails and step back in time aboard the Mystic Whaler, an 83-foot, two-masted schooner modeled after 19th-century coastal vessels. Built in 1967, this ship blends maritime history with modern adventures. Mystic Whaler is a gaff-rigged schooner owned and operated by Central Coast Ocean Adventures (CCOA). Launched in 1967, the ship spent her first 25 years operating in the northeast. In 2021 she was purchased and relocated to Southern California by CCOA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to making engaging adventure-inspired learning and the extraordinary Santa Barbara Channel more accessible to the communities of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

Don’t let this ship sail without visiting —come aboard and make waves with the Mystic Whaler. Anchors aweigh!

    To the Lake!

This Special Edition of the SBNC rides is a long one and a hat tip to the mileage junkies that don't mind spending a full day in the saddle. We'll start in SB, head through Carp, take highway 150 to Lake Casitas and then stop for a round of carb loading and lake views at Marina Cafe (mile 28).

The second part of the ride brings us back to the coast via Ventura before ending the trip with a stunning coastal stretch into SB.

It's a hard ride, so a better fit for experienced riders. E-bikes are welcome if your battery can handle the 70 miles. Note that we'll start a little earlier than usual, 8 am, to beat some of the 150 weekend traffic.

Let's meet at Third Window directly after the ride for smash burger, a beverage or why not both.

It's a 27-mile flat, beautiful, seaside ride to Ventura and back, with a planned coffee break at CAJÉ Coffee Roasters in Ventura. Overachievers are of course welcome to ride from Santa Barbara to the Rincon starting point, adding roughly another 30 miles to the total.
