    • Hendry's Beach 2981 Cliff Dr (next to the entrance of The Boathouse restaurant) Santa Barbara, CA, 93109

Join fellow walkers at Hendry's Beach (aka Arroyo Burro Beach County Park) every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:40 to walk the beach, visit, make new friends and catch up with old friends, spot whales and dolphins, and get fresh air and exercise. We'll meet at the top of the stairs down to the beach, between The Boathouse restaurant and the lifeguard stand.

Some of us walk fast, and some of us stroll. We suggest wearing appropriate shoes to walk on the beach or up to the nearby Douglas Preserve, when the tide is high.

After the walk, we will often gather at the picnic tables near our starting point, and share a snack and conversation. Hope to see you there!

    To the Lake!

(The June 7th version of this ride was canceled, and the ride moved to July 26th instead).

This Special Edition of the SBNC rides is a long one and a hat tip to the mileage junkies that don't mind spending a full day in the saddle. We'll start in SB, roll past the polo fields and take Foothill Rd to highway 150 and finally Lake Casitas where we stop for a round of carb loading and lake views at Marina Cafe (mile 28).

With the climbs behind us, the second part of the ride brings us back to the coast via Ventura before ending the trip with a stunning coastal stretch into SB.

It's a hard ride, so a better fit for experienced riders. E-bikes are welcome if your battery can handle the 70 miles. Note that we'll start a little earlier than usual, 8 am, to beat some of the 150 weekend traffic.

Hydration: With the current heat, we recommend two water bottles.  We'll stop at both the Marina Cafe at the lake and at a Starbucks in Ventura where we can refill.

Let's meet at Third Window directly after the ride for smash burger, a beverage or why not both.

    Distance: 70 miles
    Elevation gain: 3298 feet
    Estimated total time: ~6-7 hours

    Activity Level: Hard

When: Sunday July 26th at 8 am

    Start: Dolphin Fountain

    End: Third Window Brewing

Let's play! Pickleball is a fun way to socialize and get a workout at the same time! This event is open to players of all skill levels and abilities. We organize our courts from beginner on up through advanced intermediate.

By the way, if you'd like to take a free intro lesson or brush up your skills, Dynamite Pickleball is a great place to take classes and clinics. Here's a link to the official rules as well.

We will meet at the last set of courts if they're available. Otherwise, look for a group of folks with name tags. Unfortunately, SB Parks & Rec doesn't allow us to put our Newcomers sign out .

You'll pay the $6 fee with the parking attendant, park, then walk all the way down to the end of the sidewalk.
If there is rain or the courts are wet from rain the day before, the event will be canceled.

    • Rattlesnake Canyon Trailhead

    Several Water Crossings!

Rattlesnake Canyon Trail. We will hike the beautiful Rattlesnake Canyon trail on Friday.  This is one of Santa Barbara's most popular trails.  (The Rattlesnake Trail is named for its curves, not creatures).

Rattlesnake is a moderately difficult hike with 3 water crossings. A more strenuous option continuing to Gibraltar Rd. from the meadow area is possible (if open) for those who wish.  The main group will hike the familiar trail to and from the meadow.  This is an out and back hike - go at your own pace and turn back anytime.

Bring hiking poles to help with stream crossings.

Hiking Distance:  3.0 miles out and back to the meadow with an elevation  gain of 1000 '.For those going up to Gibraltar Rd.  it is 4.5 miles out and back with a total with 1600' of elevation gain.

Hiking times: 2-2.5 hours  (go at your own pace).

    • Dargan's Irish Pub, 18 E. Ortega Street, Santa Barbara, CA, 93101

Located just off State Street on East Ortega, Dargan's is a beloved, authentic SB mainstay! Established in 1997 by Paul Dargan—whose family history of running public houses in Ireland spans three generations—Dargan's blends traditional Irish roots with a lively bar, serving classic cocktails, beer (from near and far) and wine. The spacious interior features a spirited game room with four pool tables and darts. Patrons flock to the pub to catch international sports, enjoy recurring live Irish music, and savor a perfectly poured pint of Guinness.

TGIF events are a great way to start the weekend in a fun, relaxing setting. At TGIF, you will make new friends, catch up with existing friends and get to know the local restaurants and bars. With no registration required, the events are open to Newcomers and graduates...and attendees can bring a friend along.

This is a pay-as-you-go event. Please note that tips are not included in the price of food an beverages. Kindly tip your servers and bartenders when you order food & drink (SBNC recommends tipping 20% or more). We want to leave a positive impression on the community and remain consistent with the Club's values by treating everyone with respect.

To help us assure the best experience for all at our very well attended TGIF events, please refrain from bringing pets and dogs (other than Service Animals).

    Parma Park Hike

Parma Park was owned by the Parma family from the 1800s until it was gifted to the city of Santa Barbara in 1973. You can still see remains of the olive grove planted by the Parma's in the 1890s. Parma Park offers panoramic views of the Cielito neighborhood and all the way down to the ocean. An olive grove left by the land’s former owners, the Parma family, is recovering nicely after devastating fire damage from the Tea Fire of 2008. This week we will explore Parma Park with two hikes on Friday morning. Our total hike is approximately 4 miles with 750 elevation gain and considered moderate. The terrain is modulated with reasonably challenging ups and downs. We will start with a loop on the fire road for about 2.5 miles and finish with an out/back to West Mountain Rd of 1.5 miles.

We will meet at the main entrance to the park at the intersection of 192 (Stanwood Rd) and Parma Rd.

Here is a map of our hike:

Here is a link to our meeting point at the Parma Park gate located at the intersection of 192 (Stanwood Dr) and Parma Rd. Parma Rd. Entrance .  There is parking at the gate and along 192.
