    • Hendry's Beach 2981 Cliff Dr (next to the entrance of The Boathouse restaurant) Santa Barbara, CA, 93109

Join fellow walkers at Hendry's Beach (aka Arroyo Burro Beach County Park) every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:40 to walk the beach, visit, make new friends and catch up with old friends, spot whales and dolphins, and get fresh air and exercise. We'll meet at the top of the stairs down to the beach, between The Boathouse restaurant and the lifeguard stand. Some of us walk fast, and some of us stroll. We suggest wearing appropriate shoes to walk on the beach or up to the nearby Douglas Preserve, when the tide is high. After the walk, we will often gather at the picnic tables near our starting point, and share a snack and conversation. Hope to see you there!

    • San Ysidro Trailhead

No hike if it is raining - bring plenty of water!

San Ysidro Trail to Saddle Rock   This hike begins at the San Ysidro trail and then connects over to Saddle Rock on the McMenemy trail and loops back west on the Girard trail back to the McMenemy trail. The distance is about 4.5 miles and will take approximately 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Go at your own pace and there are good turn back points at the interconnection of the McMenemy and Girard Trails (which would make an approximately 3 mile hike). Total elevation gain 1,100 ft.  As you traverse over to Saddle Rock there are views of ocean, canyons, valleys and creeks. This is a more difficult hike especially in the heat but there are options to turn around before the steepest section. You may want to bring hiking poles.

DIRECTIONS: Meet at the San Ysidro trail head on Mountain Drive just east of San Ysidro Ranch. From either direction, exit Fwy 101 at San Ysidro Rd and turn toward the mountains. Go 1.0 mile to East Valley Rd (CA 192) and turn right.  Continue 0.9 miles to Park Lane and turn left. (Park Lane is easy to miss.  Look for Eucalyptus trees on your left.  You’ll turn left after the last one.) Go 0.4 miles and as Park Lane turns right, you veer left onto East Mountain Drive. The trailhead is 0.2 miles ahead on the right.  Park on East Mountain.

    • Rincon Point Beach Parking Lot, 209 Rincon Point Rd, Carpinteria, CA 93013

The Newcomer Bike Committee is finally out of hibernation and ready to get rolling in 2026. We have a beautiful ride planned for Saturday. Hope to see a big group at the parking lot at Rincon at 9am. It's a 27-mile flat, seaside ride to Ventura and back, with a planned coffee break there. Ebikes are always welcome. It's a great opportunity for all riding levels to participate! We'll stop a few times along the way to regroup.

Start: Saturday, Feb 7th, 9am in the parking lot at Rincon Beach (Bates Rd exit on Hwy 101).
    Map below.

The ride typically takes around three hours including a leisurely coffee break. If you prefer a shorter ride, it's always an option to turn around early, so don't let that stop you from getting those knees in the breeze.
    Hope to see you there!

PS: This ride earns you the right to indulge excessively on the couch during Sunday's Super Bowl.

    • Bill Wallace Trail Trailhead - El Capitan

No hike if raining - Bring plenty of water!

The Bill Wallace Trail offers beautiful coastal scenery as we rise above the El Capitan State Beach area.  The trail is named for a former County Supervisor Bill Wallace who made possible the purchase of the 2,500 acre ranch surrounding the trail by the Land Trust of Santa Barbara County.  The hike is out and back on a fire road approximately 4.5 miles total with 1,100 feet of elevation gain.  It is a great workout and a beautiful hike.  There is almost no shade on this hike so be prepared with a hat, water and sunscreen.

Driving time is about 30 mins from Santa Barbara. You are welcome to organize a car pool or meet us directly at the trailhead. Dogs are welcome on the hike.

Bill Wallace Trail at El Capitan

Directions:  Highway 101 north to the El Capitan State Beach exit, but head inland rather than toward the sea. Turn left at the frontage road and drive past the El Capitan Canyon Resort to the signed entrance to the Ocean Mesa Campground. Park immediately inside on the left (dirt) or, if that is roped off, continue down just a little bit and park in the lot. You will see a Bill Wallace Trail sign there, and parking is free.  Directions

We hope to see you there!
