PUBLIC EVENTS Calendar

The events shown in the Club's Public Events Calendar are open to everyone; you do not have to be a member of the Club to attend these events.

These events provide an opportunity for Potential Members to meet current Members to see if the Club will be a good fit for them. Former Members have the opportunity to reconnect with the friends and acquaintances they met while they were in the Club and to meet current Members.  We look forward to seeing you at these fun events, which include Cheers, TGIF, Walking the Waterfront, and Hiking.

    • Hendry's Beach 2981 Cliff Dr (next to the entrance of The Boathouse restaurant) Santa Barbara, CA, 93109

Join fellow walkers at Hendry's Beach (aka Arroyo Burro Beach County Park) every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:40 to walk the beach, visit, make new friends and catch up with old friends, spot whales and dolphins, and get fresh air and exercise. We'll meet at the top of the stairs down to the beach, between The Boathouse restaurant and the lifeguard stand. Some of us walk fast, and some of us stroll. We suggest wearing appropriate shoes to walk on the beach or up to the nearby Douglas Preserve, when the tide is high. After the walk, we will often gather at the picnic tables near our starting point, and share a snack and conversation. Hope to see you there!

    • Tunnel Road Trailhead

    Tunnel Road to Inspiration Point

No Hike if it is Raining. Bring plenty of water

Inspiration Point from Mission Canyon – At the Trailhead at the end of Tunnel Road; allow a little extra time to walk up from the parking areas.

This is one of our shorter and easier hikes and should take about 90 minutes total depending upon how much time we allow at the top for the view.  We begin at the trailhead gate (at the end of Tunnel Road).  Please note the parking directions below if you have not done this hike.  The hike follows Mission Canyon, crosses Mission Creek via a bridge, and meets the Jesusita Trail.  Jesusita travels up to Inspiration Point, elevation 1750’, that offers sweeping vistas of the city and ocean.

Total distance: 3.7 miles.  Elevation gain: 800 feet.  Difficulty: Moderate.

    Trailhead Google Maps

DIRECTIONS:   From the Mission, take Mission Canyon Road north towards the mountains for 0.6 miles to Foothill Road and turn right.  Drive 0.2 miles to Mission Canyon Road and turn left.  Continue 0.3 miles and bear left at the split onto Tunnel Road.  The trailhead is about 1.1 miles up Tunnel Road.

PARKING: There are about 15 parking spots near the trailhead and they fill up, so below are some additional parking turnouts along Tunnel Road.  Arrive a little early so you get a good spot and/or have time to walk up to the trailhead.  NOTES: 1) All parking areas are on the right side as you drive UP Tunnel Road.  2) There is a turnaround area at the trailhead if you need to drive back down to a parking place. 3) Park with your tires outside of the white line--if you park on or over the line, you may get a ticket.

    • 102 E. Yanonali Street Santa Barbara, CA, 93101

Validation Ale is happy to welcome us back to one of our favorite TGIF venues! Validation Ale offers a craft brewery, cocktails, wine, ciders and meads along with delicious food.

Following happy hour, Validation Ale will feature live music.  So stay a little longer and dance along with Last Decade (one of my favorite bands in the area).

TGIF events are a great way to start the weekend in a fun, relaxing setting. At TGIF, you will make new friends, catch up with existing friends and get to know the local restaurants and bars. With no registration required, the events are open Newcomers and graduates...and attendees can bring a friend along. Come join us Newbies!

This is a pay-as-you-go event. Please note that tips are not included in the price of food an beverages. Kindly tip your servers and bartenders when you order food & drink (SBNC recommends tipping 20% or more). We want to leave a positive in the community at all times and remain consistent with the Club's values, by treating everyone with respect.

To help us assure the best experience for all at our very well attended TGIF events, please refrain from bringing pets and dogs (other than Service Animals).

    • Buena Vista Trailhead

    Buena Vista Loop Trail

    No Hike if Raining

This hike begins at the Buena Vista trailhead on Park Lane, goes to the end of the Buena Vista trail, then goes west/left at a split to a little uphill connector to meet the Romero Catway, it then goes west downhill on the Romero Catway, goes south along the lower part of the San Ysidro trail, then goes east on the Old Pueblo trail to end near the start point on Park Lane.

Total distance is ~3.2 miles, total elevation gain 850ft.  This is a moderate-rated hike.  There is one downhill section where poles are recommended for those who feel they need them.

This is a scenic loop hike with views of beautiful homes, ocean, canyons, valleys and creeks.  This is a shorter hike than normal so we can stop again for coffee and croissants at Pierre LaFond in Montecito afterwards if you'd like.

This hike is quite exposed - bring lots of water!

    Trailhead Google Maps

Directions: From the 101, go north, toward the mountains, on San Ysidro to Hwy 192.  Go right on 192 for @.8 mile, then take a left on Park Lane.  Go .3 miles and bear to the right to stay on Park Lane at Mountain Drive junction.  Go .6 miles further on Park Lane to the Buena Vista trailhead on the left. (Note: you will pass the Old Pueblo trailhead sign at .5mile--the hike’s end point). There is parking before and after the trailhead.

We hope to see you there!
