Make friends as you explore Santa Barbara and its vast social, cultural and civic activities.
The mission of the Santa Barbara Newcomers Club is to help you make new friends as you learn about your new home town and its multitude of social, cultural and civic activities. The club was founded in 1955, has 700+ current members and offers over 50 events and activities each month.
Who We Are
We come from all over the country…and the world! We’re single and married, working and retired, and from every background you can imagine. We’re active and social, and united in our love for Santa Barbara.
You are eligible to join Newcomers within 18 months of moving to the area (Carpinteria, Summerland, Montecito, Santa Barbara, Goleta). Initial membership is for two years. Many of our members opt to join for a third year, which requires active involvement in one of our committees.
Our club is run solely by member volunteers and is not-for-profit. Our communication and payments are via our website, so some basic computer skills (e.g., bought a book on Amazon) and a valid email account are necessary to become a member.
Upon joining, there is a non-refundable one-time membership fee of $135 per person, which covers two years of membership. Many of our activities are free but some do require a fee, when registering, to cover expenses of the event, for those attending.
