Arroyo Burro Trail from Cater Filtration Plant

 No Hike if Raining!

[Hikers Preparing for Grass Mountain Wildflower Hike - April 2]

Remember to take lots of water!

The Arroyo Burro Trail is a historic trail. In the days before automobile travel trails the only way over the impenetrable mountain barrier between the coast and the interior. Arroyo Burro supplied a route for miners and other trade.

We will hike about 4 miles of the Arroyo Burro Trail with an 1100 ft elevation. the trail starts at the Cater Filtration Plant and follows the first part of the Jesusita Trail. It then winds up 1/2 mile of paved road before going by some horse stables and a few beautiful homes, before climbing up through some lovely views of the Goleta coastline. The trail goes all the up to the Cielo Road for those interested! The hike is Moderate to Strenuous.

DIRECTIONS:  Exit 101 at Las Positas and turn toward the mountains. Crossing State St., Las Positas becomes San Roque. Continue on San Roque past 192. (You can get to San Rogue via 192)  Go 1/2 mile past 192 and park at the Cater water filtration plant, (the trail head for Jesusita)
