NO HIKE IF RAINING!

[Hikers at the San Ysidro Falls - March 3, 2017]

Buena Vista to Saddle Rock:

8:30AM Friday morning. No hike if raining.  No need to register, just show up.

This hike begins at the Buena Vista trailhead on Park Ln and we will go along the Old Pueblo Trail to San Ysidro trail and then connect over to Saddle Rock on the McMenemy Trail and loop back on the Girard Trail to McMenemy Trail to Old Pueblo Trail and the trail-head at Buena Vista. Distance is about 5.3 miles and takes approximately 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Go at your own pace, there are good turn back points, namely at the interconnection of the McMenemy and Girard Trails (which would make an approximate 4 mile hike). This is a very scenic trail (total elevation gain 1,100 ft), goes through a small Eucalyptus grove and as you traverse over to Saddle Rock there are views of ocean, canyons, valleys and creeks. Difficulty: moderate-strenuous

Directions: From the 101, go north, toward the mountains, on San Ysidro to Hwy 192.  Go right on 192 for @.8mile, then take a left on Park Ln.  (Park Lane is easy to miss.  As you get near, you’ll see a “San Ysidro Creek” sign on your right, then look for nine closely spaced Eucalyptus trees on your left.  You’ll turn left after the last one.)  Go .3 miles and bear to the right to stay on Park Ln at Mountain Dr. junction.  Go .6 miles further on Park Ln to the Buena Vista trailhead on the left. (Note: you will pass the Old Pueblo trailhead sign at .5mile-the hike’s end point). There is good parking before and after the trailhead.

HIKE LEADERS: Steve & Laurie Clayton (sandlclayton@gmail.com or 805-618-6418)

Hope to see you there!
