APRIL CYCLING – Saturday April 16, depart 10 AM

Now it’s time for the Santa Ynez Valley!  Meet in Los Olivos. Highway 154 to Grand Ave. Turn left on Grand and then turn left again on Jonata St. Park by the porta potties on your left or anywhere nearby. It will take you 45 minutes to get there.  Suggest you hit the road at 9 AM.

We’ll start out on Ballard Canyon Rd. One good sized hillat the start. The uphill is half a mile. After that it is flat or downhill, marvelous scenery!  It’s the road less traveled . . .

Coffee/drinks/snacks in Solvang on Copenhagen Drive. Very charming!  Back to Los Olivos on Alamo Pintado Rd. after a BRIEF stretch on 246. Our ride is about 15 miles all told. Back in Los Olivos by noon. You can get good sandwiches right where our cars are parked at the Country Market Deli. There is outside seating (Go to Google, and put in R Country Market Los Olivos). Panino’s is one block away.

OPTIONAL 11 mile post trip ride trip on Foxen Canyon Road to Fess Parker Winery: One big hill - not easy!  Our best riders should try this one. Coming back, you either have to come back over that same hill again or go out Zaca Station Rd (flat) and come along the 154 for 2.5 miles to Los Olivos. Wide shoulder, flat or downhill. Fess Parker is a very nice location to sit outside if you have your lunch with you.
