NEWCOMERS CYCLING OUTING – OJAI.  SATURDAY 2/13/16.  Bikes depart @ 9:30 AM, so arrive @ 9:15 AM.

Yes, there is a bike path all the way to Ojai!  We just have to drive to where it starts.

Allow 45 minutes to get to the start point, which is off the 33 Freeway.  101 South to 33 North towards Ojai. Exit where the highway is ending at Casitas Vista Road. Turn right upon exiting, back alongside the highway and turn right under the Freeway to the entrance of Foster Park on your right hand side.  Go into the park (no fee) and park by the rest rooms.

The bike trail is 10 miles to Ojai center, where we’ll stop for refreshments. This is a very scenic ride. It’s a continual grade uphill to Ojai, about 3%.  Not hard.  Coming back, you fly!  20 miles total.  You can do a 30 mile round trip ride – the bike path actually starts in Ventura.  That part is not scenic.  If you do that, start 30 minutes earlier and we’ll see you where the bike path passes by Foster Park at 9:30.
