Nancy Gifford's  stunning, light-filled Montecito home is filled with contemporary art, including her own amazing creations. It evolved from a simple adobe packing shed on a 50 acre lemon orchard that was part of a turn of the century estate. Now, large amounts of natural light, stone floors, and gallery white walls provide the backdrop for her extensive contemporary art collection and her fascinating studio. The pieces on display include whimsical drawings, bold paintings, quirky assemblages, and indoor and outdoor sculpture.  See more about her lovely home at   http://sbdigs.com/dev/montecito-house-showcases-santa-barbara-contemporary-artists/

Wine, prosecco, Pellegrino, and hors d'ouevres will be served. Valet parking will be provided; carpooling is encouraged.

This is an evening you will not want to miss. We will be screening the critically acclaimed and stunning new film -- Gaviota: The End of Santa Barbara. After the screening, the Director of the film, Shaw Leonard, will engage in a lively Q&A session with us, followed by a brief presentation from the Gaviota Coast Conservancy.

Five years in the making, Gaviota beautifully documents the extraordinary lands and waters north of Santa Barbara, and has been an Official Selection at numerous Film Festivals, including the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival (2017), and the Catalina Film Festival (2017). The Director of the film will share with us the inside story on what was involved in making the film and respond to our questions. Then we will hear from the Gaviota Coast Conservancy regarding what they are doing to help protect this world-class area, while working collaboratively with landowners.

There will be food, wine, and companionship -- and an unforgettable evening of film and discussion.

Join the Performing Arts Committee at The Out of the Box Theatre Company's live, interactive presentation of "The Rocky Horror Show" on Saturday, November 4, at 8PM, at the Center Stage Theater in the Paseo Nuevo.

Seeking shelter from a thunderstorm in an old castle, naive lovers Brad and Janet find themselves thrust into the laboratory of the cross-dressing mad scientist Dr. Frank 'N' Furter and his motley crew.  Stripped of inhibitions - and their clothes - Brad and Janet embark on a wild, unforgettable journey of pleasure and self-discovery.  Reality, fiction, and camp collide in this mash-up of comics, rock and roll, and late-night horror flicks.

    Minors not admitted!

We will gather for an optional dinner prior to the performance -- more information to be shared with registrants later.

    Event opens for registration 10/24.

Have you ever seen someone take a lump of hot glass from a blazing hot furnace (2,400 °F) and blow it into a fantastic, unique object d'art? Well, this is your chance to watch local artist Saul Alcarez create one of his fine art glass pieces, some of which have been featured in museums and galleries throughout the world. These visionary designs have pushed the art of glassmaking to the edge of creative expression.

Saul will demonstrate the techniques he uses he uses to make lovely glass pieces such as vases, bowls, and ornaments.  There will be three sessions - one on Nov. 21st, another on Nov. 29th, and a third on Dec. 6th - all at 10:00 am.  Each demonstration will last just over an hour.

Everyone who attends this demonstration is also welcome to join us afterwards for an optional, delicious self serve lunch at East Beach Tacos - just a few blocks from the glassblowing studio on Milpas St. across from the Tricounty Produce market.

The Arlington houses one of the most magnificent theater organs in the country.

Spend a morning experiencing the sights and sounds of the Wonder Morton. Stand between the pipes and feel the music.

The Wonder Morton was built by the Robert Morton Organ Company of Van Nuys, CA in 1928 for a movie theater in Jersey City. The organ, all 20 tons and 7,000 pieces, arrived back in California, to Santa Barbara, in sad shape in 1986.  Over the next two years, more than 30,000 hours of donated labor cut the estimated $250,000 cost of restoration in half.

Do you know how to play an organ?  Please send an email to the Local Heritage Event Chair if you are interested in playing the Wonder Morton during the tour.
